Pee and Moe Adventures

in_room.jpg

The Pee and Mo Wedding Productions outfit had been out of action since the first wedding that came in 6 months late. After the deadly duo went their seperate ways when Paulie Simbuck headed to Cairns for work we both new the light at the end of the tunnel was fairly close! The date was Feburary the 17th in Bangkok, well that's what Paulie told me anyway so I was looking for him all day long around Koa San Road to no avail because he was arriving the next day.
I had quite the big evening the night before just drowning my sorrows thinking that Paulie had been kidnapped by the underground ping pong scene and was being forced to performing degrading acts with ping pong balls for sleezie tourists but to my astonishment Paulie arrived 8am in the morning to wake me up with a vicious hangover. To see the man again was like a Avocado shake on a sunday afternoon. We hugged, yelled, jumped, did a little dance and then we thought some sight seeing and Pud Thai was on the agenda. We check out some wonderful Buddah but all I can remember was saying to Paul, I think I'm still drunk and I was.

Dolly_Parton_s_son.jpg

Moments later the extremely ugly hangover kicked in and the only cure was a nice, cold beer to rekindle the spirit for life. I introduced Paulie to the Germans and we all agreed that starting the party at 10am was a fantastic idea.

gunja_time.jpg

We were staying on the top floor of a place called My House, such a chilled place with this rad little area down stairs where everyone just hung out. It was the perfect time to be there because there was so many cool traveller's there with the same energy and vibes. You could feel it in the air that the first night Paulie and I were in a different country together there was going to be fire works!

Paulie surprised us with some of his Mum's home made Australian sandwiches! The last ones for a while so we chomped them on down! Fubu was impressed with the standards of sanga's in Oz.

last_oz_sanga.jpg

We chilled in the My house bar for a while. We met these rad Irish girls the night before who were cool as cucumbers that were leaving in a couple of hours so we drank a few cold ones with them and reminised on the crazy night before and trials and tribulations of travelling. The Irish las was so cool and had the tattoo to match.
We had a crew of about 15 cool as peep's from all around the world. The vibes were so so good so we invited everyone up to our hallway on the 5th floor. Sweds, Canadians, Germans, Americans, Ozzies a few locals and this hallway party was crankin. We had the tunes blaring and the drinks flowing. We were all just grooving in the hallway to some rad reggae tunes to soothe the soul. Someone was handing around a bucktet or two that put hairs on your chest that was getting everyone in the mood. We even had a little jam session in our room with mwwa on guitar, Hilary on Harmonica, Paulie on the beer bottles and Smoodo and Fubu with percussion on the walls. Most amazing moment.

Thailand! The land of Smiles

-17 °C

When I crossed the boarder of Thailand and stopped at the train station this is the sign that I saw. I wasn't sure whether I was going to get throught but it was all good and no questions were asked. I had the best feeling coming into to Thailand and good vibes were flowing!

deport_hippies.jpg

I got dropped off at Hat Yai and the train to Surat Thani was supposed to arrive at 3 but arrived at 6, just a little late but chilling with the crazy locals like this dude. This guy was the most touchiest dude but had a good heart.

touchy_dude.jpg

I met a really cool french couple and Barbra from Australia while waiting, which helped pass the time. The locals said to expect a long wait so a chill with the guitar was on the agenda. The train arrived and we headed straight to Chaiya. From Chaiya I need to catch another train I wasn't aware of, my god it was scary. It was like 2am and I think this place was like the Elizabeth of Sth oz. Did I get some dirty looks, I tell you what. I just looked at the ground and hoped for the best. Thank god I arrived safely at some random hotel and locked myself in.

19/01/2008
Woke up and the town I was scared of was like pleasantville but with a little fish smell in the air. The local's loved it as well, while I was crossing the road all the stuff fell out of my bag and about 20 dudes laughed and pointed. I caught the bus to Surat Thani. I arrived in a town just about 15 minute bus drive from Surat Thani. From Surat Thani I went to Don Sak then hit the seas on my way to Ko Samui.

PHOTO OF CRUISIN TO KO SAMUI

I arrived at Ko Samui and found a cheap place to stay at Hat Lamai. the Beer Beach Bungalows. I didn't exactly get a bungalow but I did get a room that smelt like cats piss but I saved 2 bucks. I just relaxed and played guitar on the beautiful beach watching the old men with their lady boys and all the different cats. Little did I realise the beach down from the one I was at had waves rolling in. I was shattered.
While having a bite to eat a lovely gentlemen offered me some opium. I politely said no, I'll stick to the tiger. Straight after I met these two Swedish dudes who were staying at the same place.

The start of the beach crawl.

Twas so relaxing
ko_samui_beach.jpg

Really nice dudes so we decided to do a beach crawl and hit all the pub. No one was really out on the Island we hit some good reggea bars that didn't seem to play reggea at all but what can you expect.

20/01/2008

I pretty much came to this Island just to kick back and relax and it's exactly what I did, just chilled on a paradise style beach, having dips every now and again and soaking in the rays. It's a tough life.

21/01/2008

I was going to chill for a bit longer but thought I really should head to Ko Phag Ngan at least 3 days before the full moon party to get some decent accomodation. I caught the fairy across and met a lovely pommy couple on the honeymoon. The sun was shinning then suddenly the rain just started to pour down, everyone got soaked but it was good fun.
When we arrived I heard that there was a few rad places over the hill from Sunset Beach. A hell of a walk but it was so worth it. the place was paradise! There were party vibes everywhere. people from all over and most just over to party at the full moon. Arrived late arvo so just kicked it at the resort on the beach front and watch the amazing sunset to soothe the senses. I met a fellow traveller, Hugh from Brizzie in Aus. A really cool dude on the same level so we thought we both deserved some Pud Thai and a beer.

We stayed at a place called Leela Beach and it was heaven.

PHOTO OF LEELA BEACH

After our meal together Hugh and a couple of other peeps decided to go down to the party beach and suss of the vibe. The feeling was kind of like falls the last couple of years I went, we had to walk what seemed like a couple of mountains before we hit the action. We strolled down the main street and I ran into the dude call Super Mario and he was the guide for this big boat with dj's that went around the whole Island and showed you the sights. I signed up and the only condition was that you wear white so I found some groovy fisherman pants for 3 bucks and life was sweet. It was time for the beach. To tell you the truth I only felt like having one beer but we met up with these cool cats from Australia, Ebony and Dollface. They kind of inspired me to have a bucket then that bucket inspired me to go another and this cycle went on and on. There we're all these rad bars on the beach front and all these little stalls selling buckets. One of the bars was cranking with the tunes blaring and two Thai dudes had a skipping rope that was on fire and everyone was having a go. By this time I was feeling pretty confident and could not resist the temptation of having a turn. I had a go and all went well and from then on the night consisted of jumping in a burning skipping rope, drinking and dancing with my toes sinking into the sand.
So many people were getting burnt, I mean it wasn't like they kept the skipping rope at a steady pace, as soon as you hopped in they went as fast as they could until you tripped or the fire went out. One girl jumped in and the rope hit her dress and it went up in flames and she was rolling around and no one could get it out. I heard one dude after I left got the rope wrapped around his wrist and it was burning for a 15 seconds or so and he was pretty badly burnt. My burn wasn't bad at all so I didn't even think about going to the doctors or anything.

first_burn.jpg

The party vibes were amazing. I met so many rad people. there was a lot of dancing on table tops, drinking other people's buckets and rolling in the sand. It hit a point where I thought I was ready to hit the sack but I decide to sleep in a alley way for a few hours before I went home. All I remember is that it wasn't comfortable. I made my way home at 5ish and passed out.

22/01/2008

I woke up just in time and bit worse for wear in the morning and remember I already paid for the boat trip around the Island with Super Mario. I was thinking maybe I shouldn't go but I wouldn't get the oppurtunity again for a while so I soldiered on. My god, from word go I was regretting it. I was so hungover and sore all over my body. I hopped on the boat that was this rad big mama of a sea machine.

Ko_samui_cruise.jpg

The people were really nice but the music wasn't exactly my desired style especially with a hangover. It was rave/dance/trance and it was hell. The Island was beautiful thought and I'm glad I saw it. I saw another boat cruising around the Island and it was playing chilled tunes. I was so envious but what can you do.
We stopped at random beaches that were amazing and swimming in the crystal clear water was so refreshing. The boat would just stop in the middle of the ocean and we could jump off of the roof. I tried a back flip and I think I lost a testicle and all my will to live and then a german girl dunked me. Life was so very bitter sweet.
We stopped off half way around the Island to check out the waterfall. It was delightful. We all just chilled there for half and hour then had a rad feed. My hangover was disgraceful but you could sleep out the back of the boat, which I did. I remember looking at the burn on my leg and thing that's getting pretty bad but I thought the sea water would be good for it. It wasn't. All in all the day was fun and it was better then being hungover the whole day doing nothing at all.

I've stuffed on the dates somewhere but this is the 22/01/2008

I need some serious recovery time. So i woke up slowly and just chilled at the beach. I set the goal that I had to climb up on the top of this rock on the mountain, whick was the wrong decision because I nearly fell and died but all was swell and the view was beautiful. I watched the sunset, contemplated life and smiled. I felt rad was ready for the full moon experience even though I think I partied enough to last a while the other night but when in Rome.
The vibes were rad and met some cool people. I headed down with the Leela Crew.

I found the reggea section that was dead as a door knob but there was this cool New Zealand girl who grooved to the tunes with me. Parties on the beach are so so good but I think I was partied out and headed home pretty early. My ankle burn was started to hurt a little as well so I thought rest was a must. Good fun, jocks galour but what can you expect. There was so many people pissing in the water, the whole beach was practically steaming with the lovely fragrance of piss. My full moon party experience was so so good. It''s those spontaneous nights that are always the best and the first night I arrived on the Island was exactly that.

Malaysian Sunshine

-17 °C

09/01/2008
We cruised out of Singapore around 7ish and it took us around three hours to get out. There was just a ridiculous amount of traffic on the boarder. I've never seen so many people on scooters in my life.
Once we hit Malaysia it was smooth sailing. The first destination was Mersing on the East Coast of Malaysia. The wind was blowing through our hair, we had the reggae tunes soothing the senses, the thick rainforest on either side of the road and life was tip top. I dozed off for a minute or two for a little cat nap but I woke up when Fubu pulled over at the first sign. That was when I knew we were on the right track.
So cooooool

It's a little dark but we're all doing our best impersonation of an elephant

look_out_elephants.jpg

About half way to Mersing we bought some supplies for a beef paddie party and drove to the middle of know where and turned down a dirt road that was endless. We were looking for a beach but found an endless road that lead to the jungle. We decided this was the perfect place to camp. Tiger beers, beef paddies and the sounds of nature, and as well as Andy's farts (safety). Se Germans had everything you need to camp in the wild and a little bit more so we pitched the tent, started the fire and reminisced on the times of yesteryear. We went for a little stroll with the massive flash light the boys had in search of Big Foot, yes the Renowned Malaysian Big Foot. We didn't find him or her but we will.....oh yes we will.

The next day we packed up the Queen and headed straigth for Mersing.

A classier Hollywood!

a_better_hollywood.jpg

The sights were picturesque, I was just in heaven. We arrived quite late and it appeared to be a ghost town except for the fact there was these gangs of scooters zipping around the streets. We were all a bit tired so we checked into this seedy looking hotel, seedy but so perfect for us.

Hotel_mersing.jpg

us in the hotel

inside_mersing_hotel.jpg

When we woke up we went to the local supermarket to eat the cheapest thing we could find. As I entered there was a street cat in the middle of the floor licking it's balls. It was a beautiful sight and for some reason we bought some tuna, cheese and onion to make some stella sandwiches. I pretty much can't eat tuna ever again in my life. The street cats have scarred me.

The crew eating the worst sandwiches I've ever experienced

tuna_never_again.jpg

Just over from where we were sitting above was a dirty but delightful river running through Mersing with so many run down boats and jetties. So cool

jetty_heaven.jpg

After satisfying the senses we headed to one of the local beaches and we were going to go for a swin but because of the wet season the water was so brown it just wasn't that appealing. To chill at the beach was just so sweet though, had the guitar, good company and life was sweet indeed.

Fubu contemplating life on a larger scale

Andy just doing what he does best, being romantic

After a chill at this beach we were back on the road on our way to Melaka, west coast of Malaysia. It was nearly dark so we thought we could just find a random beach when we got there but that wasn't the case. It was so hard to find a beach at night but we ending up finding this chilled little place besides a peaceful river. After some wondering I discovered this place was a mixture between paradise and a dump, I think it was actually both. We set up camp and a chill session was on the agenda!

It was so so humid

camp_dump_paradise.jpg

I woke up at about 3 o'clock in the morning in a pool of sweat (I guess that's expected in a small tent with three other dudes in the land of humidity) to what sounded like a local dude preying right next to the tent, this place is in the middle of no where by the way so I was scared shitless so I woke up Fubu the freak and told him and his reponse was "yeah I know" and he went straight back to sleep. One chilled mo fo that fubu

When we woke up we were all in need of the beach!

and the beach we found!! woo hoo!

I love the nature but it was time to head the big City of kuala lumpur for a bit of fun and also Smoodo had a family friend who he had to catch up with. We arrived and after driving in the choc a block traffic we found a another seedie hotel to call home for a couple of nights.

The Melaria Boy Band had there first city show!

marlaria_boy_band.jpg

We strolled around the big city and checked out the sights.

Some cool stencils all over the city

this_is_my_home.jpg

Checked out the twin towers but we couldn't go to the top because the tickets were sold out but it was massive!

KL_twin_towers.jpg

Fubu love the old school drinks

fubu_old_s.._drinks.jpg

but you could get drinks in a bag, only in Thailand!

drink_in_a_bag.jpg

We went to the hard rock cafe the first night because Smoodo wanted to buy a shirt for his sister, what a sweet heart. We had a couple of beers but it was way too expensive or we're just really cheap, I think the latter but hey life's tough on the road. We decided after that to just cruise home and sleep. We got pounced on by some lady boys but we survived. All of us just did internet stuff the next day. I found this rad reggea bar while getting lunch though so I told the crew and that was the plan, xcept for Andy who was sick as a dog.
I headed to the reggea bar on my own and the Germans were going to rock up later. It was so cool, just Bob Marley posters everywhere and booze was so cheap. I just chilled with some random cats I met but it wasn't after I sunk a few more beers that I met this rad dude. His name was Fred and He was from South Africa. Besides the Germans this dude was the kind of person that I hoped to meet travelling. He was just on that same wave of life and it was refreshing to meet someone like that. A creative, open minded soul. I think I came overseas expecting to meet a endless amount of beautiful people and although there is beauty in everyone, the beauty that's shining out to others is sometimes a little hard to come by. So if you're reading this Freddie. I love ya!
The Germans arrived not long after and the party was in top gear. Just drinking, grooving to the tunes and enjoying life. I also met these two nice hippy girls and this amazing American dude that completed the party vibes. "we going to send it to out of space to find a brand new race" that song was played about 20 times but it got better everytime. Much love was on the dance floor! We stumbled home after a hard days work and hit the sack.

16/01/2008
It was great in the city but it was time to visit mother nature again and first stop was the little island of Panua Pangkor! I had good feelings about this place!

pangkor_2.jpg

panua_Pangkor.jpg

As soon as we arrived I was just amazed by the beauty. It was that kind of paradise that I expected to see here and it was my first real dosage. We grabbed a warm tiger beer and chilled at the beach for the sunset. It was so much fun just climbing the trees and swinging on the swings that were on all the trees. We were monkeys in the tree of life alright!

jump_for_joy.jpg

We stayed at this chilled hostel with a reggea theme with hammocks everywhere and Fubu loved every minute.

Fubu thought it was time with a nap with rex

fubu_chillin_wit_dog.jpg

We all agreed it was time for Andy to become a mummy

andy_the_egyption.jpg

the place was rad

reggea_hostel_fubu.jpg

That night we past a few peeps on the way to the beach and they invited us to a bonfire they were having. We headed down there later and chilled for a bit. Not before we watched this rad Adam Sandler movie, I can't remember the name but the one where he inherits millions of dollars. It's pretty bad but quoting the butler "I love toes, I always have. I don't know why" comedy gold.
There should be more bonfires on the beaches back home~! We were living the O.C!

bonfire_baby.jpg

17/01/2008

Today we spent the whole time snorkelling around the Island just off the Island we were on but we had to swin out. Freakin hell the Germans could swin like fish, i was left behind in the middle of the ocean but it was cool though. When we finally got the Island it was worth it. It was only a small Island and you could walk through the jungle and come out the other side where there was just beautiful white sand and rocks with crabs walking all over them. Snorkelling was rad but there wasn't that many fishies. All of our backs got so burnt because we all failed to pack any sunscreen but no worries eh!

18/01/2008

Well I woke up today and decided it was time for me to cruise off to find my own path. The time with the Germans was so beautiful and was exactly what I needed. So many funny, rad times and I love them for life. I finished the Alchemist and oh my god. This book has just soothed every single part of my soul and a big inspiration to venture off on my own as well. We left the Island and as soon as we hit the main land we hopped in the car and headed to Ipoh, where I would catch the train at 12pm and sleep until I arrived in Hat Tai. That would have to be all of my time in Malaysia for now but it was beautiful, eye opening and so much fun.

My last cigie with the beautiful man who is Andy.

Sing a little pore for me

Big City

-17 °C

relaxin.jpg

7th of January 2008

let the good times begin!

I arrived in Singapore around 11:30 with no accomadation oganised at all but I phoned around and I was lucky enough to find the last backpackers willing to let me crash so late. The Prince of Wales Backpackers was where I was calling home for the night.

It was pretty chilled and it had a cool bar so I purchased my first pint and just sat back and relaxed. It was the best feeling in the world knowing I'm finally travelling. I'm absoloutely lovin it! I played guitar for a bit in the humid air and then I hit the hay.

This was my colourful dorm for the night

my_dorm.jpg

Just playin some tunes while soaking in the view

playinwindow.jpg

I woke up in the morning and there was three other dudes in the dorm. Initially I thought they were Aussies, all dreded up surfie looking dudes but after having a chat with them I found out they were from Dutchesland.
Smoodo, Fubu and Andy are the names and living life in crazy town was the game.

ze_germans.jpg

They just arrived a couple of days earlier from travelling around Oz for a year or so and the only reason they were waiting in Singapore is because their four wheel drive was getting shipped over and was arriving the next day. Their plan was to head up through Malaysia, well pretty much all through Asia then make their way back to Germany! I was heading in the same direction and they were the biggest chillers so since they had a spare seat I decided to stick around just to hop on the band wagon.

woohoo
sights1.jpg

08/01/2008
They had to organise so much to get through customs and to find where the car was getting shipped but after alot of paper work and bus trips we found the beautiful machine they call the "Outback Terminator Queen" (the name comes from the number plate OTQ 384).

car_shipped.jpg

There was some cool buildings

sight2.jpg

We all wanted to get out of Singapore asap, I mean it's good if you like shopping and the city vibe. I hate shopping and the city just wasn't calling my name. I wandered around the town for a while and checked out the sights and later in the evening I enjoyed the finest beer in town with the Germans, the Singapore delight "Knock out"

knockouttime.jpg

We decided the gutter was more appropriate for the occassion

slummin_it.jpg

We packed our bags in the beast and cruised on out, we recieved so many weird looks by the locals. I don't think a car of this calibre is common around these parts!! Ahhhhhhhhh the adventure has officially begun!!! So fair well Singapore and hello Malaysia!!!
